Barry Silbert is the founder and CEO of Digital Currency Group. He is a member of the investment committee at Luno Expeditions. He is a member of the board of directors of Ethereum Classic. A global enterprise that builds, buys and invests in blockchain and bitcoin companies around the world. DCG is the parent company of Grayscale Investments (the most prominent digital currency asset manager with ~$2 billion in AUM), Genesis Trading (the largest regulated cryptocurrency trading and lending firm) and CoinDesk (a leading media and event company in the field). A pioneer in bitcoin investing, he began buying bitcoin in 2012 and quickly established himself as one of the earliest and most active investors in the industry. Prior to leading DCG, he was the founder and CEO of SecondMarket, a venture-backed technology company that was acquired by Nasdaq. During his leadership career, he received numerous awards and recognitions, including Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst & Young and Crain's, and was selected to Fortune's prestigious "40 Under 40" list. Before becoming an entrepreneur, he worked as an investment banker in New York City. He graduated with honors from Emory University's Goizueta School of Business.
