Douglas Atkin is a co-founder of Communitas Capital Partners. He is also a board member of Miles Howland & Co, Selerity and Red Deer. He serves as CEO of Island ECN. He is an advisor at Lightkeeper. He has been an investor, founder and senior executive in the financial technology industry for over 25 years. He began his career at Instinet, the world's first electronic stock exchange, where he became CEO and led its $464 million IPO in 2001. He co-founded Efficient Frontiers, a consulting and research firm specializing in trading technology, regulation and market structure. He was also CEO of Majestic Research, a data-driven research company serving large global fund managers. Majestic was acquired by ITG (NYSE: ITG). Most recently, he ran the venture capital business for Guggenheim Partners. He has been an active investor throughout his career, focusing on financial technology, crowdfunding, "marketplaces" and data-driven companies. New York Magazine named him to its list of top New Yorkers for his leading role in redefining the financial marketplace, and Institutional Investor magazine named him one of the top 30 people with the greatest impact on e-finance.
