Federico Pirzio-Biroli is a founding partner and chairman of Playfair Capital. He serves on the board of directors of several technology companies. He holds a master's degree in philosophy and psychology from the University of St. Andrews. He is also an angel investor. He has served on the board of directors of DueDil. He is an advisor at Purple Elephant Ventures. He started as an angel investor in 2010. His portfolio was growing rapidly, so he gathered a team around him, and that's how Playfair was born. Playfair has since become one of Europe's most active and well-known early-stage venture capital funds. Before becoming a technology investor, he worked for several NGOs in Africa, focusing on aid transparency. He has recently refocused on Africa, moving to Kenya to become an angel investor in the emerging startup ecosystem of East Africa. He maintains an active role at Playfair and continues to lead its investment team.
